PIT AND FISSURE SEALANT COURSE
Pit and Fissure Sealant Course for the RDA
RDAs
desiring to perform pit and fissure sealant application must complete a two day
Board approved
sealant course. Upon completion of all of the requirements, a certificate of completion will be provided.

If you are an RDA or working towards becoming an RDA and possess a coronal polish certification you may enroll in this course. It includes lecture, step by step demonstration using a video/DVD format and laboratory experience on extracted teeth provided by you. You will be required to apply pit and fissure sealants on four patients during the two days. Upon completion of all the course requirements and you are an RDA you may perform this procedure.
Students
must provide those general sealant supplies required to perform this
procedure. UltraSeal XT plus sealant material by Ultradent will be
provided by DPOC. A list of these supplies
will be sent to you upon receipt of your registration.
∙ Course Requirements-1st Day
∙ Course Requirements-2nd Day
Students are required to bring three clinical patients on the last day of the course. These patients must meet the following requirements: each patient must: have a minimum of four (4) virgin non-restored natural posterior teeth (bicuspid and molars) for application of sealants. Each patient must have one tooth to be sealed in all four quadrants of the mouth; be 18 years of age or older, do not have orthodontic bands or bonded brackets near the areas to be sealed. The exact time for these three patients will be scheduled during Day 1 of the course.
∙ Course Examination
On
the last
day of the course, two of the three clinical patients
will serve as the clinical final examination for this course. In addition, a written examination will be
administered.

faculty for this course are career oriented educators and clinical RDAEFS for
many years. They are not only
knowledgeable as an instructor, but possess the highest level of clinical
experience.
